Introduced in September 2022, the Wagoneer S EV is now primed for its debut. Here are the stats of Jeep’s first electric vehicle and what it means for the brand’s electric future.

Jeep’s Wagoneer S Electric Vehicle

The Wagoneer S doesn’t hold back on performance. For its inaugural release, it boasts a range of over 300 miles on a single charge, a 600-horsepower powertrain capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, and all-wheel drive capability. Despite its smaller size in comparison to the Jeep Grand Cherokee, this two-row, five-seat SUV offers ample comfort without compromising on space. The launch edition comes equipped with a sporty two-spoke steering wheel, expansive screens across the dashboard providing ample room for your rubber ducks, and a standard McIntosh audio system, establishing it as a luxury SUV poised to compete with the best.

We did say ‘luxury’ and the price point reflects that. The Wagoneer S may cause some sticker shock at $70,200, reflecting the quality of all its amazing features. This may make the model less accessible for those looking for more affordable EV models – but rumors say Jeep isn’t done yet.

Jeep’s Electric Breakthrough

Coming at the tail of the Wagoneer S release, came the announcement from Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares that Jeep is building a $25,000 EV. This unannounced compact SUV has been likened the project to the European Citroën ë-C3, also set at a relative $25,000 starting point. The Citroën is a compact SUV, with just 113 horsepower and under 200 miles of range, figures that should go up considering the preference and necessity of the American market for power and range.

Beyond the initial investment in EVs, Jeep also intends to boost plug-in hybrid SUV sales by around 50% in 2024. PHEVs, which combine an internal combustion engine with EV technologies, could help accelerate consumer adoption of electrified Jeep vehicles as the company attempts to develop its all-electric line. Currently, Jeep offers two great PHEV models – the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and the Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
